Kea Park, Vocational Training Centre Property Project

Broadgrove have secured planning permission for a new Vocational Training Centre at Kea Park Close, Hellaby, Rotherham MBC, on behalf of clients Witherslack Group. Once operational, the Centre will be used to support Key Stage 4 children from the existing Abbeywood School nearby, which is currently operating at capacity.

Set within the established Hellaby Industrial Estate, the existing unit had previously benefitted from a flexible B1/B2/B8 permission. Overcoming initial resistance from Rotherham’s Policy Team, Broadgrove worked with Officers to demonstrate that the specific nature of the proposed F1(a)-use was appropriate in an industrial location. The reintroduction of 26 FTE jobs to an empty unit, as well as the demand for SEN school places in the South Yorkshire region, also weighed in favour of the proposals.

Retrofitting of the unit to facilitate the proposed end use will commence in early 2022.
